Live-In Caregiver & You
We understand that hiring a nanny can be scary, which is why Diamond conducts thorough checks, including personality screening, written and verbal English testing, background checks, medical clearances, and in depth reference verification, to provide you with profiles that contain extensive information about our candidates. To ensure they are the fit for you, we insist that you learn more about their personality by conducting a phone or SKYPE interview with your prospective caregiver.
Fit for Your Family
A live-in caregiver may be the perfect solution for you if you do not live in a metropolitan area that has excellent access to public transportation and/or if you require irregular or flexible hours. Click here for income requirements.
Hiring a Live-In Caregiver
Live-in nannies who have come to Canada under the Canadian Caregiver Program can live in their employers’ home and must provide care for 24 months or the equivalent in full-time hours. The services they perform are specific and cannot be limited to dog-sitting services and solely housekeeping services.
Employers must qualify under strict guidelines for income, need for a live-in caregiver and proof that they have not been able to source a nanny from the local labour pool.
Live-in Caregiver hours and wages are strictly regulated by labour standards and vary from region to region. Employers are responsible for all costs associated with the recruitment and hiring of a live-in caregiver including airfare from the home country, health insurance, WSIB, and all recruitment fees. Employers are required to make all salary deductions and payroll remittances.
For more information please visit Important Links section. This is an exhausting process and we strongly suggest that you use a professional to process your Labour Market Impact Assessment.
