The holidays are fast approaching, and whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Christmas or anything else, this is a great time of year to show a little appreciation to your caregiver. It can be easy to forget that your nanny is actually an employee in your home, not just a very helpful friend or family member. This is your opportunity to show your caregiver some love!
When possible, we recommend offering her extra paid time off, a cash bonus or even gifts. Many of our families offer their nanny a ticket home to the Philippines (not to worry — if that’s not in your budget, that’s completely fine). Extravagant gifts are not necessary: a gift card to a local coffee shop, winter accessories such as hats, scarves or mitts; an affordable laptop/tablet or even affordable jewelry would be greatly appreciated. A simple, thoughtful and heartwarming gesture we always recommend is a photo of the nanny with your family — try to compile a photo album of snapshots of her with your children or elderly patient! She will treasure this, we promise. Include a card with a kind note, thanking her for her service and appreciating her presence
