One of the highlights of Ottawa is Parliament Hill, which sees over three million visitors taking in the stunning gothic architecture every year. A tour within the walls of the parliament buildings will reveal the depth of thought and symbolism put into every stone pillar and carving. The most distinctive feature of Parliament Hill is the Peace Tower, a 300ft clock tower that houses a First World War memorial at its summit. Adorning the peace tower you’ll find 370 different gargoyles, grotesques and friezes.

After you’re done with Parliament Hill, there’s no shortage of sightseeing stops in the nation’s capital. The National Gallery of Canada is home to over 1200 different pieces and the largest collection of Canadian artwork anywhere, and the National War Museum has gained much-deserved international acclaim.

The Rideau Canal is another one of the city’s signature features, as every January it transforms into the world’s largest skating rink. Residents and tourists alike can enjoy tasty beaver tails while they traverse the nearly 8km stretch that is cleared for skating.
